Many individuals all around the world love the warmth and comfort that a burning candle can bring. Candles are used in many different atmospheres such as in the church as well as in spiritual healing and in the home too. It may come as a bit of a surprise then that burning candles can actually be dangerous and hazardous to your health. Many assume that candles can't be that dangerous if they are able to be sold to begin with but it all depends on what you consider dangerous. Just because the candles you burn in your home or establishment are approved for retail sale does not meant that they are necessarily safe to burn as often as you may burn them. If you are one of those people who burns candles on a daily or near daily basis then there are a few things that you might want to know about the candles that you burn and the alternatives to the type of candles you buy in a department, drug, or dollar store. Knowing this could help keep you and your family healthy and safe from dangerous candles. The candles that you burn in your home can possible be emitting toxins that are hazardous to your health. How is this possible when products are so regulated these days? Well, certain information about the contents of candles are not required to be disclosed by the maker of the candle. Such things as lead, benzene, and acetone may be in the candles that you burn everyday and you may not even know of it. These chemicals can be released into the air when the candles are burned and inhaled by you and your family. Such toxins can be harmful to your health in a number of ways and can effect such things as your blood stream, your cardiovascular health, and even your central nervous system. Before you make a candle purchase it would be wise to try to determine what is in the candle that can be released into the air you breath. Many candles that you purchase in the store can leave a nasty soot when they are burned. This soot can release carbon into your air and cause the air in your home to become even more dangerous than the air outside. Carbon is the same dangerous pollutant that is produced when burning fuel so it is definitely not something you want floating in the air of your home. Finally, you should know that there are alternatives to the health hazardous candles that you can pick up at any store. Beeswax and soy candles are much safer alternatives to your traditional paraffin wax candles. Such candles can be found in some specialty stores and can be found online as well.
